Are you being seen?

Are you being seen?

After going to all that trouble of making a brilliant video, how are you sharing to the world?

Here are a few essential ways you can be promoting your video and making the most of the time and money you’ve spent in creating it.

1. YouTube

– just in case it’s not completely obvious, YouTube or Vimeo are essential platforms for promoting your video. Personally I spend more time on YouTube, although Vimeo is also a great quality repository of videos. YouTube is the second largest search engine and is a useful way to be seen. Once your video is on YouTube (or Vimeo) you can share it far and wide.

2. Embed the video on your Website.

Melissa-makerBy having it already hosted on YouTube (or Vimeo) you can easily cut and paste the embed code and have it on your website in seconds. You can even hide the YouTube controls if you want it to look like it is a more integrated part of your site.

3. Make friends

You have a social network online. Use it. Spread the word. Try to avoid just saying here’s my new video. Give people a reason to watch it. Hopefully the content in it will be helpful in some way to your audience – even if you are selling to them. Highlight what people can learn from watching it. Identify a problem you solve.

You can of course also include your videos as part of your LinkedIn profile. Some companies are incorporating staff culture videos as part of their LinkedIn company page. It is an ideal place to showcase the culture of the organisation and weed out the applicants who aren’t suitable and attract the ones who are.

 4. Include it in blogs

Which leads me to point four. Integrate video content into your blog. Generally when doing this people will make their entire blog about the video and their opinion on the video and why it is worth watching.

5. Send it everyone every time you email

Because it is so easy to include videos are part of your email signature, why not cut and paste that URL link and send it far and wide. I’ve been doing this for the last year or so and can see the number of views of my videos regularly climbing. It helps reinforce my expertise and promote my services. Currently my email signature includes the Five Mistakes video which also features on my website. If you have a variety of videos to promote then rotate them every month or so. Because the video is hosted on YouTube (or Vimeo) it doesn’t add anything to the file size of the email.
